A federal court in Salt Lake City has frozen various assets of three participants in two cryptocurrency schemes that netted more than $12 million, according to the SEC.
Daniel Putnam and Angel Rodriguez of Utah allegedly worked with Jean Paul Ramirez Rico of Medellin, Colombia, to defraud investors, according to a May 7 Securities and Exchange Commission complaint. The U.S. District Court for the District of Utah unsealed the complaint Friday.
